This morning I went out side and listened to the birds (I’m going to catch one someday, you wait!) and ate some dirt – mom didn’t like that..well, she wasn’t the one eating it, was she??!!

*It’s Been TOO Long! – Sept 16, 2011

Otis my black pug

"Mom slacked off...sorry!"

Have I got some stuff to say!  First, I am so mad at mom for taking sooooo long to blog again. I think I mentioned before that she went back to working outside the house, so is gone during the day (doesn’t she know I need her home with me?!) She also has been spending a lot of time working on getting stuff for the new house and working on the yard. I like her working in the yard, though, because I get to go outside with her and soak up the sun.

dogs running

"I love running with my friend!"

Well, we are in our new house and I am loving it. I have my own backyard now and it’s finally fenced in so I can run loose all over and I can have other doggy friends over to run and play, too!  I like going out when it’s dark out and jumping to catch the lightening bugs. I haven’t managed to get one yet, but I will! We go for walks all over the neighborhood and we meet other people and their dogs almost everyday! Now that I am use to mom being gone to work a few hours a day, she doesn’t ban me to the kitchen anymore! I know to wait for her to get home to go outside and do my business.

Otis the black Pug

"I'm sorry, mom!"

I’ve had a couple accidents in the new house, but mom didn’t get too mad…I could tell she wasn’t happy, though…I don’t like seeing mom upset! She just cleaned it all up and washed everything until it smelled nice and clean again. That only happened a few times when she was first back at work and i didn’t understand the schedule. Now I make sure I go before she leaves and hold it until she gets back home, which really isn’t too long…wait, who am I kidding..it’s way too long!  I do always tell mom I’m sorry for my mess :(

Otis the black pug

"Not funny, mom..I hate the rain!"

We had some bad rain for a few days..which sucked because that meant I couldn’t play outside!!! I hate the rain, but I have to go out to at least do my business, but I do that as quick as possible as not to get too wet! Mom has learned a new trick! When it’s raining, she opens the door to the backyard and just tosses me out..BY MYSELF! – she stays inside watching me through the screen where it’s dry. She laughs at me. Well, I don’t find it very funny at all! So, I figured she’s gonna laugh, I’ll just pee on the screen! :P

Otis the black Pug

"When is going to stop raining??!"

Mom likes watching the rain, though and I have to say I like watching it as long as it’s from inside! Me and mom sat together a lot and just watched the rain. She doesn’t really like it either, but she did say it’s good for the grass. Who cares, I say, I still don’t like the rain!! Mom played fetch with me and tug and we also took naps while it rained and rained and rained. Daddy napped, too.

Morning Pug Rounds

"Everything smells so fresh after the rain!"

Then we woke up one morning and the sun was shining and everything was nice and green!

Pug on a Mission

"I see bugs..I'll get them!"

I couldn’t wait to get out into my yard and do my morning rounds. Mom had her camera, of course, and I just let her take pictures while I scoped out the yard.

Yawning Pug

"I'm sleepy"

Well, this puggy is tired. I’m ready to go cuddle with mom. I have another story to share, but that will have to wait for another time.

Until next time….

"Ya, I was not done my blog..sheesh!"

Sorry everyone!! Otis’s blog got cut off last time halfway through writing about his trip to Maine. We lost internet connection due to them “accidentally” cutting our lines when they were excavating the neighbors yard!

Anyway, here are a few more photos of our trip….as they say, a picture says a thousand words!! We don’t have time right now to write a nice blog, so just thought we’d say a quick hello and explain why his last blog seemed “short”

Hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July weekend!!! Be sure your pets have plenty of water and shade if your hanging out side with friends and family!! :)

My mom’s dog, Russell and Otis playing tug! Russell did not like sharing!

"It's MINE!"

Tootsie (my best friend’s dog) and Otis met for the first time! We stopped to visit them in Massachusetts on our way through to Maine~

Tootsie kept mothering him….she was very good with him.

"What is this chick doing?"

Then when we were in Maine, we visited my other really good friend and her young dog, Russell!!

Both young and active, they had a blast!

"Um, he's not sharing!!"

Otis learned quick who had the good treats ha! (Grandma!)

"Is that a treat for me?!"

Otis was not liking the backseat for the ride home. Rich flew to Maine and met us there and rode with us back to Virginia!
(you have to click this pic to really see his expression lol)

"I'm not digging this!"

Yes, we let Otis out of his car seat for a little while….he is NOT a good back seat rider when he can’t see mom~ Rich took the pic while I was driving…he settled on Rich’s lap once we got going again. ….Jeremy crashed hard in the backseat after the dog whining stopped ha!

Black Pug

"Where are we going?!"

Wow. Me and mom went on some adventure! When she said “let’s go for a ride” I was NOT expecting that! She said her son was getting married back up in Maine so we had to drive from Virginia, where we live, all the way to Maine, where her family is.  To be honest, I was not too crazy about it, but I was with my mom, so that made it better!

I didn’t understand why I could not lay on her lap like usual. She said she had to concentrate on driving and I am a big boy and need to learn to do stuff on my own. What the heck does that have to do with wanting to be on her lap?

Black pug in the car

"Did you say pit stop?!"

I thought the ride would never end, but we stopped a few times to take a break. There were lots of yummy smells and other dogs going on trips, too! I freaked out once when mom left me in the car alone. I didn’t know where she went, but she said she’d “be right back” and I know that means not to worry, that she won’t be long….ANY time she is away is too long, doesn’t she know that? I didn’t care, I screeched at the top of my lungs…all I got were strange looks and mom still went :( – she said she had to pee, too!

We left so early in the morning for our long drive that we got to see the sun rise…. that only made me more sleepy when I realized how damn early she got me up..so I took a snooze.

"I'll just do it myself!"

Well, since mom has decided to bail on blogging about me, I’ll just have to do it myself!  Lots has changed since we moved to our new “den”.  Good and bad. Let’s list the good, shall we: I get more room to run, run, run in the house (don’t laugh, I do run), more places to hide from the boy,

people watching pug

Nosey pug!

the windows are lower, so I can look out and watch all the action outside, and trust me, there is a lot of action outside with all the other dens being built…can’t wait to meet all those new doggy friends!

I already met one little girl dog across the way..can’t remember her name, though, but that’s not important to me…she smells divine!  There are 2 other dogs in the neighborhood so far, but I don’t know what their problem is, they don’t like me. Mom says it’s them, not me :)

More good things: Mom seems to play with me more…we play fetch and chase every morning, she also read somewhere to make my baths warmer because Pugs don’t like the cold (I kept telling her that!), so now I don’t mind a bath so much at all. Since my new meds in my eyes, mom doesn’t have to clean them so much…I guess the drops aren’t so bad after all, so that’s a good thing, too.  We also sit out on the porch every morning for fresh air and people watch while she has her coffee…I like that…she puts me on a long leash so I can walk around if I want…I usually don’t..I stay sitting right next to her.

I’ve never seen so much green grass with lots of interesting smells!!!! This summer will be great!

Now onto the bad……

Otis the black pug

"Just the way it is..."

Mom has an outside job now, so I’m home alone for about 5 hours, isn’t that a crime?? It should be! Then the boy comes home and she is usually home right after…it was hard to get use to at first. Screeching for mom not to leave didn’t seem to work either :( (oh, this belongs in the good section really…I can go with mom to work once in awhile, but I have to be really good.. I’ve already gone TWICE..wish I could go everyday..I miss her!). I get gated into the kitchen area whenever she leaves for work, which sucks, but there is my dog bed that they put in the morning room off the kitchen (that bed’s a joke!) but, I guess they must have felt bad for giving me that puny bed because they recently got a lovely love seat to put next to it. THANK YOU, MOM!  Mom covers it with a blanket before she leaves everyday, though…why? It’s perfectly fine the way it is!

Back yard

"My beautiful backyard to run in!"

They won’t let me off leash in my own yard yet…all that beautiful green grass and big yard to run, but can’t. They said soon we’ll have a fence then I can be loose all the time….(ya, I won’t hold my breath for that one to happen anytime soon..it’s already been like forever as it is!)

hmm I guess that’s it as far as bad stuff… …now that I wrote it all down, this new place isnt so bad, kind of diggin’ it (figure of speech, mom, I’m not really digging….yet!)

Mom caught me writing my blog.. she promises to let me do it more often…and she will write some, too…YAY!..it’s back to our adventure writing now that we’re settled!!

new sofa
See my new BIG bed!! (look at the puny one….told you it was a joke!)

Don’t forget on any of our posts, you can click the photos to enlarge so you can see me better :)

Till next time…

Our New House

Our new house!

Wow! It has been a while since I blogged. I do apologize! The move has taken it’s toll and we’ve been having a hard time with Ryan Homes and Verizon. There are STILL no phone lines in the ground!! So, this means, NO land line and NO internet, and NO cable..etc.. We did get Direct TV so at least can watch our shows, but the whole no phone line thing is really upsetting. I work from home, so obviously this has been a problem. I am currently on an air card, but that is not going to cut it for the long haul. Today will be the day a long letter is drafted to the president of Ryan Homes. They should NOT build houses or let people settle on homes that do NOT have at the very least PHONE lines. We were told several times we would be all set. We should not have settled and moved in until lines were in the ground, but they assured us it would be so we went ahead. Not everyone has cell phones and what if there were an emergency…how the hell can we call 911?! Thankfully I do have a cell, but that is not even the point. They told us several times over the course of building that internet and phone would be in since they did get an email stating they would be here in January….well, by my calendar it’s going into APRIL!!  We’ve been getting the run around for months now. All they had to say was “we’re not sure when phones will be in”….this would have made a huge impact on the neighborhood we chose to move into. We were VERY adamant about needing internet for my work…..and they kept assuring us it would be here…..hmmmmm….everyone is good at pointing fingers.. it took my husband calling several people at Verizon before someone even came out here. We’ve since contacted the State Commissions office…they are “looking into it” ….whatever THAT means! Yesterday, while I sat on the dining room floor after yet another phone call, I just cried and Otis laid his head on my lap, looking up at me with those big eyes of his as if to say, “It’s ok, mommy, I’m here!”  That made me feel much better!

Otis the black Pug

Literally stuck to me for a week!

Anyway..enough about that! I feel better now for venting ha! Below I have posted a few photos of Otis enjoying the new house! He has settled in and is not up my @ss anymore ha! The first few days he was so confused and wouldn’t let me out of his site! He was like a toddler throwing temper tantrums when I left the room…he’d almost be hyperventilating, he was so freaked out. I think going back and forth to the old house had him a little confused and he thought maybe I’d leave him somewhere and not be there with him! Now that we are in the new house all the time now, he’s much more relaxed. Hopefully now that we’re settled, I will have more time to blog. I do have a few Otis stories to tell! Until next time..

Hectic – March 20, 2011

"What the heck is going on around here!"

Wow, has it been one crazy week! We start moving into the new house tomorrow (Monday) and things have been hectic this weekend with last minute stuff. I packed all of Otis’s toys away and he’s been looking for them in all the boxes and under furniture. I have not been giving Otis the attention he “deserves” and he’s been getting into things he shouldn’t..

Black Pug

"Where are all my toys?!"

…..like when I left a paper towel on the coffee table and he tried to sneak and get it ….

Bratty Pug

"I can get that!"

Bad Pug

"Where's mine?!"

…or when I left the empty bag from my lunch on the table and he was SURE I left something in there for him…..

Saturday morning we decided to take a break from all the packing and cleaning and we went to the Pet Expo! Otis was so excited….he got to go! We also picked up his friend, Maggie, to go with us!

Otis and the Pig

"What is THAT?! It smells funny!"

Maggie and Otis

"What is over there?" "Let's go see!"

At the expo there were a lot of interesting things to see…like other dogs, treats, pet clothes and even a painting pig! One thing we saw that we could not help but buy was a new leash for Otis! I LOVE it!! The leash does all the work! Click here to check it out!

Today was a lazy day for Otis. I think the pet expo yesterday tuckered him out. It’s late and tomorrow will be a busy day for all of us!

Until next time…

Packing – March 14th, 2011

Published by under Pug Adventures

Pug Face

"What is going on here?"

Wow, we had a very busy weekend! As you all know, we are moving into a new house we had built!! Our move in date is March 22nd, so we are heavy into the packing stage now. We sold some furniture this weekend (gotta love Craigslist) and they came and picked that all up this weekend. My husband also sold his beloved Mustang, since we haven’t really used it in a long time and it was just sitting in the garage collecting dust. It was hard seeing the girl go, but it’s better the car be used than sit taking up space in the garage.

After all the commotion of the furniture and car being hauled away Saturday (Otis LOVED greeting everyone) we went out to lunch and then went by the new house to check things out and decide where things are going to go. When we got home we all got busy with our own packing. Our son was in his room packing up his own things (he did a very good job!) and hubby and I each did our own thing.

pug in a box

"Look, mom!! I'm packed!"

Saturday night we went to a friend’s birthday party and they have dogs, too, so we brought Otis….and I did NOT take ONE photo at the party!! Shame on me!! We left early since I was falling asleep standing up. The day had been so exhausting with packing and running errands, but it was nice to get out to see friends for a little while.

Bored Pug

"Packing is hard work!"

Sunday morning was lazy. I took Otis for a nice walk, since the weather was finally nice. Hubby suggested going out to breakfast (like I’d say no to that?!). So, poor Otis was left alone for a little while. I actually do not think he minded being left home. He played hard with the dogs the night before, so was actually wanting to just sleep.  We went to Lowe’s and Home Depot then picked up our son from his grandmother and spent the rest of the afternoon doing more cleaning.  I was up in our room washing blinds and cleaning out the closet, packing shoes and throwing out crap I do not want to cart to the new house. That’s the one good thing about moving – getting rid of CRAP you forgot you had that you’ll never use! Otis watched me yard stuff out and throw stuff in boxes. He didn’t seem too interested in helping, but he did enjoy the empty boxes! Hubby was downstairs cleaning out old papers..I could hear that shredder screaming!

The afternoon flew by and we all needed a break! We went to our friends house and had a little visit then went to grab a bite to eat (we had a gift card for Baja fresh ha!) When we got home, we all did absolutely nothing but lounge around and relax!  Until next time….

*Sick Day – March 10, 2011

Rainy Day

"Rain Sucks"

Why is it still raining! I hate the rain!! Mom makes me go out, though. I figured out that if I just stand there, pulling back on the leash and not budge, she will just pick me up and carry me over to the grassy area. (I can’t repeat what she said when she picked me up!!). Hey, I told her I didn’t want to go out! I still would rather do my business in where it’s dry, but I get in trouble every time I do that. So, I let her carry me over and then at least I’m not walking through puddles to get there. I do my business as quick as I can so I can go back in!

Yesterday was a not our usual routine. The boy got up and did his thing and left, mom still got up and fed me my breakfast, if you can call it that (I think she’s trying to slowly starve me to death!), but when we came back in after doing my morning “chore”, I saw Dad was STILL in bed. I thought that was so nice of him to stay late and keep my spot warm. He didn’t budge. I sat and stared at him wondering why he was not leaving for work. Mom then told me dad was sick and was staying home.

Cuddling Pug

"I'll lay with you, Dad!"

Poor dad..I woke him up and told him I’d lay with him and make him feel better. He smiled and pulled me closer.

Here I am in dream land, snuggled up with Dad, then Mom LEAVES us! I think she’s making me toast, I smell peanut butter…nope…crap..it’s for Dad! Why does he get special treatment just because he’s sick?!  ”cough, cough”… MOMMMMM! I think I have a fever!”  Guess that didn’t work..I’m still waiting for my toast! She’s going to meet a friend for lunch…but dad is sick, shouldn’t she stay home and make me…um…I mean, HIM soup or something? I can’t take it…I have to wait for Mom down on my favorite spot on the back of the sofa where I can watch for her out the window when she comes back home. I don’t think Dad liked me leaving him and hanging out with mom when she came home…he called me a “traitor”….what?!

Black Pug

"Dad doesn't feel good"

Mom plopped me back with Dad on the bed (did I even say I WANTED to lay with him anymore?) so she could go do something…not sure what. Thank goodness she came back and laid with us…she read, dad watched TV and I snuggled in between.

Pug Hug

"I love to cuddle!"

Dad was feeling better this morning and he went to work…Mom still made me go out into the rain!

Until next time….
